Dragons and serpents
Jörmungandr
also known as the Midgard Serpent was a sea serpant of Viking myth. He was the child of the god Loki and the giantess Angrboða. Legends sat that Odin tossed Jörmungandr into the great ocean that encircles Midgard (the Earth). The Dragon grew so large that he surrounded Midgard and bit his own tail. This is why the Deagon or Serpent symbolizes rebirth and the life cycle. In the Lrgends of the American Indians the Serpent represents rain, thunder, the river, and fertility. Asian Dragons symbolize wisdom and knowledge
